Unity Tour

311, Cypress Hill and G Love & Special Sauce will join forces for Unity Tour 2013.  This marks the 11th consecutive summer that 311 has headlined amphitheatres with their summer Unity Tour. This year’s installment of the annual summertime trek hits amphitheaters nationwide from July 2nd to August 4th (itinerary below). Tickets for select shows go on sale starting April 12.  On-sale dates listed at http://www.311.com/shows.

311 vocalist, Nick Hexum says:

We’re super excited for Unity Tour 2013!  We had a blast touring with Cypress Hill in ’96 and with G Love in ’03…and we’re really glad we can all hit the road together this summer.  Will make for a killer show.  Lots of sick hip-hop beats and summertime grooves.  Gonna be fun!”

After years of incessant touring, 311 have developed a reputation as one of the most entertaining live bands in the U.S.  Their celebratory live shows and hybrid sound have earned them a massive grassroots following and a catalog of modern rock hits, including “Down”, “All Mixed Up”, “Amber”, “Come Original” “Beautiful Disaster” and “Sunset in July”.

Cypress Hill have sold over 18 million albums worldwide.  With hits such as “Insane in the Brain”, “(Rock) Superstar” and “Hits from the Bong,” they’ve been nominated for three Grammy awards and are heralded as one of the best known and most respected groups in all of Hip-Hop.

G Love & Special Sauce bring their alternative-blues-hip-hop sound back to the Unity Tour – after joining 311 for summer 2003.  G Love’s unique sound has led the group to major festival appearances (Bonnaroo, Lolapalooza, etc) – and to collaborations with artists such as Jack Johnson and the Avett Brothers.

311’s Unity Tour has included Snoop Dogg, Sublime with Rome, The Offspring, Slightly Stoopid, Matisyahu, The Wailers, The Roots and Ziggy Marley. Unity Tour 2013 featuring 311, Cypress Hill and G Love & Special Sauce promises to hold tradition by being the concert party of the summer!

BIO: With a tight headlock on the new-funk movement, Kung Fu is quickly submitting critics with their unique sonic chops. Punishing the line between dojo-disciplined electro-jazz-fusion and street fighter funk, Kung Fu’s tao merges early Headhunters and Weather Report mentality with contemporary EDM ideology like yin and yang. Although the essence of the Kung Fu Krewe is rooted among ancient jam dynasties, this fledgling “nu-sion” project intends to dominate audiences while nourishing the chi of all who cross their path. Kung Fu features Tim Palmieri on guitar (The Breakfast), Robert Somerville on tenor sax (Deep Banana Blackout), Todd Stoops on keyboards (RAQ), Christopher DeAngelis on bass guitar (The Breakfast) and Adrian Tramontano on drums/percussion (The Breakfast). Currently touring in support of the 2011 release of their eponymous debut album, the powerhouse quintet’s live show has been described by critics and fans alike as “lethal funk,” “explosive,” “jaw dropping,” and “musically mesmerizing.” Stay tuned for the release of their second full-length album Tsar Bomba in June 2013.

Keller Williams Live @ Ridgefield Playhouse (5/2)

•April 24, 2013 • Leave a Comment

The legendary Keller Williams returns for a solo performance at the Ridgefield Playhouse in Ridgefield, CT on Thursday May 2nd.  Get tickets and more information at http://www.tickets.ridgefieldplayhouse.org/ordertickets.asp?p=1095

Keller Williams

One-man-band Keller Williams hits the road this winter and spring performing his signature solo sets.  Accompanied on stage only by a slew of instruments and musical gadgets, it always feels good to return to the roots of this mad-scientist of music.

In his seemingly insatiable quest for constant musical evolution, Keller will also make very special select live appearances with any one of his creative collaborations – Keller and The Keels, the critically acclaimed Keller with The Travelin’ McCourys, and his most recent six piece funk outfit More Than A Little.  No matter what the configuration – Keller Williams always delivers.

For Keller Williams’ newest muse, a 6-piece funk band dubbed More Than a Little, Williams is backed by some of the hardest–hitting players from his Virginia stomping ground – including a lovely duo of backup singers.  Performing new, super-funky versions of Williams’ originals and an unexpected collection of cover songs that pays deep homage to the genre’s roots, More Than a Little is fresh, relevant – and yes, SUPER funky. Plans are in the works to soon release a live album of More Than a Little, featuring recordings culled from their run of shows in late 2012. In the meantime, look for More Than a Little making special upcoming appearances in 2013. Currently confirmed dates are listed below.

On the other end of the spectrum – but just as tasty – is his work with Keller Williams with The Travelin’ McCourys.  It’s only after seeing these boys play together live – or listening to the collaboration’s debut recording, Pick (July 3, 2012/SCI Fidelity Records) – that you come to the inescapable realization that this is a meeting that was predestined. Williams, the über-distinctive singer-songwriter/multi-instrumentalist who’s been described as a “one-man band for the new millennium,” is a tireless musical seeker for whom repetition is never an option. And The Travelin’ McCourys – bluegrass royalty nonpareil with a sharp eye toward innovation – have similarly been dubbed “twenty-first century musical pilgrims and adventurers.” Keller Williams with The Travelin’ McCourys is a classic case of the whole being greater than the sum of its parts—although the parts are rather massive on their own, to be sure. Williams’ unconventional songwriting takes on even greater weight when backed by The Travelin’ McCourys’ emotive tones. Inspired by Keller’s fearless creativity, The Travelin’ McCourys’ flawless playing gains new depth.
